JS Music and Sound offers complete post-production audio capabilities including dialogue editing and sweetening, ADR, sound effects editing, 5.1 surround mixing, and final mixdown.  John Schuermann is an award winning composer / sound designer who has written the music scores and done the sound design and sound mixes for over half a dozen feature films shot in Colorado and elsewhere. John specializes in giving even low budget features a big budget sound, with full THX pm3 surround mixing facilities and a large library of sound and Foley effects.  As a filmmaker himself, John fully understands the role of sound in film and how important a well mixed soundtrack is to the emotional impact of any movie.  Nothing can pull and audience "out" of a film faster than a badly mixed and recorded soundtrack, so John works carefully to clean up dialogue, match levels, and make sure that the final mix reflects the vision of the director and a cohesive "whole."

John's philosophy is one of collaboration - of working with the director and producer to acheive the correct sound and emotional subtext for the specific production. Since sound is often one of the key factors in creating emotion in a motion picture, John understands how making sure that the director and sound designer are on the same page before even getting to work is key to mutually satisfactory end result. As a filmmaker himself, John truly understands the needs of the director / producer and is extremely knowledgeable about the proper role of music and sound in film. In fact, John often teaches classes about the history of film music / sound design and how various techniques can effect the audiences perceptions of time, emotion, and character / situational subtext.
