Producing for the Media Marketplace

Producing for the Media Marketplace
The right tools, the right guidance -- your stories

Colorado is filled with people who want to make movies, TV shows, and web series. They have stories they love and know others will love them, too -- but they don't know how to move forward.

It's never been a better time to embrace your inner producer.

Producing for the Media Marketplace is a one-of-a-kind, intensive 6-week class that will provide the step-by-step guidance to make your media production a reality. This is a specialized mentorship opportunity directed at developing your story into a project that will be competitive in the marketplace. Each week we'll cover a new business aspect in detail and then apply it to your project. We'll work together until you walk out the door with a production book ready for execution -- and you feel like a producer!

The Rider & The Wolf Highlights Missing Mountain Biker

Grit & Thistle Film recently released a feature documentary shot in Colorado. The Rider & The Wolf tells the story of mountain bike pioneer Mike Rust, the hall of fame cyclist who disappeared without a trace in Colorado in 2009. www.riderandwolfmovie.com

"We've been seeing a great amount of interest in the film, not just from cyclists, but from people interested in mysteries of the American West," says Nathan Ward who directed and DP'd the film. "People want to know what happened to Mike the Bike."

The doc premiered at Telluride Mountainfilm and will also be screening at the Denver Film Festival and the Crested Butte Film Festival. The film has been covered by nearly every cycling/adventure magazine in North America including Outside Magazine, National Geographic Adventure, Bike, Adventure Cyclist and Colorado Public Radio.

Writer Sibyl Gardner in person

(panel includes a boxed lunch)

Learn how the writing staff of a television show works together to create some of today’s best entertainment. From script language to the writers’ room to the production schedule, you’ll be taken through the process with a seasoned TV writer.

Sibyl Gardner

From her first day as a college intern on “Good Morning, America,” Sibyl was hooked on television. After several years working in production (at fledgling MTV and the New York cable TV scene), she moved to Los Angeles to write. Comedy, drama, episodic, movies… she’s made a living at it for more than twenty years now. Her produced TV credits include: Law & Order, Diagnosis Murder, Judging Amy, Profiler, Any Day Now, Joan of Arcadia, Saving Grace, Hawthorne and Nashville. She’s also got a shelf full of (as yet) unproduced screenplays and television pilots.  Concerned about the welfare of Hollywood writers, she volunteered as a strike captain for the Writers Guild of America during the strike of 2007, has served as a diversity script judge, a script arbitrator and worked on the WGA Foreign Employers Task Force, in addition to teaching screen and TV writing whenever possible.
