CFVA’s Board of Directors reflects our growing industry, representing film, television, and new media professionals.

Noah Smith

President

Noah is a Denver-based filmmaker and the founder of InContrast Films. Having freelanced across Colorado over the past decade, Noah is deeply familiar with the Colorado film community. Noah is passionate about telling stories and uplifting others in the film scene, ultimately leading to his involvement in the Colorado Film and Video Association.

Noah still works as a freelance video editor and producer, in addition to serving as the in-house film and video producer for the University of Denver’s Department of Advancement. With the film industry on the rise in Colorado, Noah wants the CFVA to be able to provide support for local filmmakers and productions.

Brandon Naughton

Treasurer

Brandon Naughton, Founder of Truce Media, is a creative industry entrepreneur with over 20 years of working in the film & television industry.

JULIANA HALEY

Secretary

uliana Haley is a filmmaker based in Arvada, Colorado. Pursuing a career in the entertainment and media industry, Haley has contributed to a range of short films, feature-length films, and documentaries. Her experience spans various roles, including 1st Assistant Director, Producer, Director, and more. Through her company, Juliana Haley Creative Strategies, she works as a social media manager for various non-profits and provides end-to-end video production for local businesses.

Paul Pirkle

Chair of Operations

Paul Pirkle is an independent filmmaker—writer, director, producer, and actor—dedicated to storytelling that explores our shared humanity. Through his company, Freestream Films, he creates narrative and documentary works that inspire emotion, reflection, and action. A U.S. Veteran and former leader in environmental engineering and consulting, Paul brings a deep well of experience in team leadership, strategy, and creative execution. As a board member, he aims to support and strengthen Colorado’s film and video production community.

Shawna Schultz

Vice President

As the co-founder of Mass FX Media and 38th & Post, Shawna Schultz leads a team of talented motion designers and post-production professionals who create stunning, impactful visuals for documentaries, series, and brands.

An Emmy-winning director with a passion for storytelling, her work can be seen on major platforms including Netflix, HBO, Disney+, and Apple TV+.

christine BOWDEN

Board Member

Christine is a 25+ year veteran in the performance and theatre space, starting her career in dance at the age of 2. After receiving her Bachelors and MFA, she went into a 12 year military career. She has held positions on activism boards for WWF and also supporting wildlife and ecological conservation within the NRDC. She is a First Nations Shawnee and Cherokee daughter, and is passionate about empowering marginalized populations in the TV and Film Industry. She is grateful to be a part of the CFVA board and to be a small part of encouraging voices to be hear and people to be seen.

SHIRL GARCIA

Disability Integration Coordinator

Shirl Garcia (she/her) is a dedicated leader in emergency preparedness, serving on local to regional advisory boards, including the North Central Region’s Access and Functional Needs Council and the Colorado Public Utilities 911 Task Force. She is Vice-Chair of the Equal Access Committee and a strong advocate for “Text-to-911.” A FEMA-certified CERT Instructor, she teaches alongside her husband, Gil, and is credentialed with the Red Cross and Colorado Volunteer Mobilizer. Recognized with multiple awards, including CEMA’s Presidential Award (2022), Shirl champions authentic disability representation in media. Her goal is to ensure Colorado films reflect the true inclusion and diversity of its people.

JHonette perdue

Events Coordinator

Jhonette enjoys giving back to her local community through film and non-profit volunteering and has been involved in film for over 15 years. In that time, she has been involved in casting, acting, prop making, behind the scenes, networking and various other pre and postproduction roles. She is formerly the Vice President of Women in Film and Media of Colorado.

Dannielle stewart

Chair of Marketing

As a master storyteller and writer, Dannielle specializes in supporting & growing the mission of nonprofits, entrepreneurs & businesses through well-researched marketing communications, PR and consultation and high-quality video productions. She is the Director of Marketing at the Angel Capital Association and an independent story and video producer.
